Parks and gardens

Bologna’s historic centre hides many green corners, both within the courtyards of historic palaces and in public parks and gardens located in various parts of the city. The hills just outside the city, only a 15-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, are a constellation of parks, meadows, woods, villas and farmland. It is a protected natural and semi-natural landscape that stretches from the gentle hills to the south and east of the city to the green plains in the north.
